SFUSD Insider | March 2025
SUPERINTENDENT'S MESSAGE
Dear SFUSD Colleagues:

Happy Women’s History Month! I want to take an opportunity to celebrate and honor the exceptional women who lead, teach, and inspire across our school district. I am truly grateful for the women and gender diverse colleagues who paved the way before me and for those who continue to shape our schools today. Our female leaders (principals, teachers, administrators, and staff) play a vital role in mentoring the next generation of leaders in our schools every day. Thank you for your dedication to our students and for your commitment to making SFUSD a more inclusive community.

As you know, we are facing a difficult financial reality. Our district must reduce our budget by $113 million for the 2025-26 school year to meet our financial obligations. This is a challenging moment for our district that requires painful decisions, including staff reductions. I know these decisions affect people’s lives and I do not take that lightly. While we work through this, we remain committed to prioritizing resources that directly support students to achieve literacy and math excellence and be ready for college or career.

Thank you for your resilience and continued commitment to our students during this challenging time.

In partnership,

Dr. Maria Su

SFUSD Superintendent

2024 W-2 Information - From Payroll

Your 2024 W-2s were accurate. However, the report filed with the state contained incorrect employee data. As soon as we identified the issue, the district uploaded a corrected report to the state. However, this may have caused a discrepancy in your tax return if you filed before March 5, and you may receive a “Notice of Tax Return Change” from the State of California Franchise Tax Board.

Employees who filed their taxes before March 5: Please call the State of California Franchise Tax Board using the phone number listed on the "Notice of Tax Return Change" letter you received. You will need to request a recalculation of your taxes.

We are confident that this is an isolated issue. We are deeply sorry for the stress and concern that this may cause. To request additional support related to this issue, employees can submit a ticket.

Frontline and Red Rover Updates
