Happy Women’s History Month!
SFUSD Insider | March 2024
SUPERINTENDENT'S MESSAGE
Dear SFUSD Colleagues:

Happy Women’s History Month! I want to take this opportunity to honor the women in my life, especially my mom, my wife, my daughter, my teachers and my colleagues, who have all been part of making our world a better place. Across SFUSD this month and all year long, we celebrate and uplift women, as well as gender diversity. In fact, we have guidance to support educators in incorporating gender-inclusive practices and fostering inclusive school communities.

Speaking of students, I hope you’ve had a chance to watch the student performances at the beginning of the School Planning Summit on March 2. In case you missed them or want to watch them again, you can access the video recording online. The talent and brilliance of our students across SFUSD inspires me every day.

At the School Planning Summit, I shared an update about our Resource Alignment Initiative (RAI), a plan for SFUSD to align our resources to our goals for student outcomes. This work began in August 2023 and focuses on the current state of SFUSD’s schools and what steps we need to take to make them a better place for students. You can stay up to date on the Resource Alignment Initiative by visiting the RAI website, which will be updated regularly.

Finally, as I shared with you in an email on Feb. 29, SFUSD is taking steps to transition from our current payroll, finance, and human resources systems—including EMPowerSF—to a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. There is nothing you need to do at this time. I will continue to share updates with you regarding this change.

Please keep reading this month’s newsletter for updates about these topics and more.

Plan to Replace EMPowerSF

SFUSD is taking steps to transition from its current payroll, finance, and human resources systems—including EMPowerSF—to a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. The district is planning to only use funds that were set aside in 2022 for the implementation of a new ERP system per the guidance from state assigned fiscal experts.

The target date for fully implementing the new system is July 2025. No action is needed from employees at this time, and we will keep you updated.
