SFUSD's overall graduation rate for 2017-18 increased to 85.5%, and the graduation rates of many student subgroups also increased. We're proud of our students and will continue to work toward a 100% graduation rate for each and every student.

Burton High choir prepares to sing with SF Opera Chorus

Graduation rates in San Francisco on the rise: school district officials
More students in San Francisco are graduating, including minority, immigrant, disabled and homeless students, San Francisco Unified School District officials announced Thursday. According to graduation rates released Thursday by California Department of Education, 85.5 percent of students in the city graduated last school year, a one percent increase from the previous 2016-2017 school year.

School board resolution encourages high school students to take City College courses
San Francisco Unified School District officials expect to see the number of high school students taking City College classes to rise after the Board of Education unanimously passed a resolution Tuesday to increase accessibility. The resolution calls for an increase in the ties between the school district and City College to allow more students access to college classes, as well as apprenticeship and language courses.

San Francisco health science teacher decided to make the current unhealthy air quality part of his lesson plan. KRON4 was there on Wednesday when some of his students tested air samples to see for themselves how many pollutants they are breathing in.

100% clean energy school districts: A growing movement
SFUSD demonstrates how an ambitious, holistic plan to eliminate a large school district’s climate impacts can be systematically implemented while bringing a range of added benefits. SFUSD has long counted hydropower as one of its energy sources; however, the district is now working to produce all its power on-site, in addition to tackling a variety of other sustainability initiatives.

SF postmaster teaches kindergarten students how to write letters to Santa Claus
Some San Francisco kindergarten and first grade students on Friday learned how to write letters to Santa Claus, U.S. Postal Service officials said. Students at George Washington Carver Elementary School at 1360 Oakland Ave. got instructions from San Francisco Postmaster Abraham Cooper. The event is part of the USPS's annual Operation Santa program, in which children write letters to Santa and others make those wishes come true.

SF school board election: Collins, Lopez and Moliga win seats
Alison Collins, Gabriela Lopez and Faauuga Moliga won seats Tuesday night on the San Francisco school board. Election results showed Collins topping the list of 19 candidates on the ballot, followed by Lopez then Moliga.
